Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about transcription, translation, credits, and the tools. Can't find what you need? Email us at support@transcribridge.com.

What file formats can I upload?

TranscriBridge accepts most common audio and video formats: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG, MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV, WEBM, AVI, WMV, MPEG, and 3GP. If your file plays in a standard media player, it will almost certainly work.

Is there a file size or length limit?

Uploads are limited to 500 MB and 2 hours of audio or video per file. Files outside those limits should be split before uploading. Most recordings — meetings, interviews, podcast episodes — fall well within these limits.

How accurate is the transcription?

Transcription uses an AI speech recognition model running on our servers. Accuracy is high for clear speech in quiet recordings. Background noise, heavy accents, or overlapping speakers will reduce accuracy, as with any automated transcription tool. You should always review output before relying on it for anything important.

What languages can be transcribed?

A wide range of spoken languages are supported. The source language is detected automatically from the audio — you do not need to specify it. Accuracy varies by language, with best results for widely spoken languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, and Portuguese.

What is the SRT translation tool?

The SRT tool lets you upload an existing .srt subtitle file and translate it into another language without re-transcribing anything. It preserves all the original timing so the translated file works as a drop-in replacement. It uses a separate character-based credit balance from transcription minutes.

How many languages are supported for translation?

Translation is powered by Azure AI Translator, which covers 70+ languages including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, and many more. The full list is shown in the dropdowns inside the workspace.

How are SRT translation characters counted?

Only the subtitle text is counted — timestamps and blank lines are not. For reference, a typical 2-hour film uses roughly 40,000–60,000 characters. The free tier includes 10,000 characters per month.

Do my purchased credits expire?

No. Paid transcription minutes and paid SRT translation characters never expire. You can buy a pack now and use it months later. The free monthly allowance (30 minutes and 10,000 SRT characters) resets on the first day of each calendar month.

Can I get a refund on unused credits?

All purchases are final. We do not offer refunds for unused credits except in cases of clear billing error. If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact us at support@transcribridge.com.

How are transcription minutes charged?

Minutes are charged based on the duration of the uploaded file, rounded up to the nearest minute. For example, a 3 minute 42 second recording is charged as 4 minutes. Credits are reserved when you upload and refunded if a job fails to complete.

How is my uploaded audio handled?

Files are stored temporarily on secure servers to complete the transcription job. We do not use your audio or transcripts to train AI models, share them with third parties, or retain them beyond what is needed to deliver your results. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

Is my data safe?

Connections to TranscriBridge are encrypted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Payment processing is handled by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.

What is TranscriBridge Muxer?

Muxer is a free Windows desktop app for registered users. Drop in a video file and an .srt subtitle file, choose your output format, and click Mux. It supports soft subtitles in MKV (toggleable in any player) and hard subtitles burned into MP4. It downloads ffmpeg automatically on first run — no manual setup needed.

Where do I get it?

Sign in to your TranscriBridge account, open the workspace, and click the Muxer button in the toolbar. The download is available to logged-in users only. Requires Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and approximately 200 MB of disk space.
